Holidays and DUI: It’s Serious Business

pittsburgh criminal defense attorneyLet’s face it; the police know it’s a drinking holiday. New Years Eve, St. Patrick’s Day and of course, the summertime hat trick of DUI holidays, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

It doesn’t take much to put a person over the limit, 2-4 beers in most cases, over a couple hours, will do it. You may not feel drunk, but legally speaking, you may very well be over the limit.

A blood test will determine how much alcohol is in your system, with guidelines to determine tiers of impairment.  All it takes is a .008 BAC to be DUI. That’s not a lot.

And the police will be out there in force. They’re not stupid.

So be smart on the holidays. If you plan to drink, plan ahead. Make sure you have a way home. Don’t drink and drive.

Have a great holiday weekend and stay safe.
